One of the most difficult parts of changing your life is preparing your mind for the change. No one just wakes up and says they’re going to be successful, and then in an instant, are successful. No one wakes up and says they’re going to put down that crack pipe, or that beer bottle, or that porno mag, and expect to be an instantly changed person. Changing your life is hard; it’s not easy. You may think committing to making a positive change for yourself is no big deal, but if your will isn’t strong, you’ll be right back to square one. When you make the commitment to change, you have to be consistent and persistent in training your mind to make that change stick.
Hear me on this – you’re going to have to make some sacrifices; and I’m not just talking about putting that bottle down or picking up those books, but I’m talking about genuine sacrifices that put you in a position to be successful in achieving the goals you set out. When I wanted a roof over my head that didn’t double as my transportation, I had to make sacrifices in my life that I hadn’t made before. When I decided to go back to school to pursue a degree that I believe could help me in making a difference in this world, I had to make sacrifices in my life that I hadn’t made before. Those sacrifices weren’t easy, but I knew that if I wanted to make some serious change in my life, I had to get uncomfortable for a while. Listen to me, I had to get uncomfortable for a while – but it was worth it! If you want to make some serious change in your life, you have to make some sacrifices that aren’t going to be easy to make, but push through it because the rewards on the other side are worthy of your hard work. If you want something bad enough, it’s going to cost you some hours of sleep, maybe a few friends, maybe some missed memories with family, but the rewards are worthy of the sacrifice.
